The Kansas Constitution calls for a "uniform and equal basis of valuation and rate of taxation of all property subject to taxation." So why does the system for determining taxable value change at a county line?
Finney County appraiser Mark Low says he's been asked many times to adopt the system used by another county appraiser, Tom Fuhrmann, to determine taxable values for gas wells in five neighboring counties over major gas fields in southwest Kansas. Read the full Press Release here here.
